Jingai Makyo’s Ignis: My Favorite Redhead
April 13th, 2009 @ 11:21 pm by KunoichiZero
Being not all that into H-games, I’ve never actually played Chaos Gate – Jingai Makyo. It’s not that I have a problem with them, it’s just that most of them don’t really do anything for me. Even so, Jingai’s main girl has become one of my all-time favorite characters. Apparently I’m not alone in that, as there are lots of figures of her produced, along with wallpapers, etc. She’s a drop-dead gorgeous demon-hunter with fiery red hair, a skilled martial artist with mastery of many weapons from swords to guns, and she wears glasses… what’s not to like? Or maybe I should say, how many other fetishes can you cram into one character?
Well, since seeing Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, Ignis has been relegated to the status of my second favorite redhead, after Yoko. But Ignis still has the more interesting figures, for now.
Anyway, this post will also allow me to demonstrate for you how well the Nintendo DSi external camera works, compared to the iPhone’s. There’s still no flash, and the resulting pics are smaller and seem to have a slightly limited color palette. But the DSi has a self-adjusting focus as opposed to the iPhone’s fixed focus, which allows me to get in closer for more detail shots without having the result being just a blurry mess. On the other hand, the DSi doesn’t seem to do quite as well with further-away shots…In the end I may need to use a mixture of both. What a pain…
But enough talk, have at you!
(Some adult content ahead!)
- First up, we have Orchid Seed’s version of Ignis. This one was sent to me by mistake when I ordered Max Factory’s version, but I liked it enough to keep it.
- The pose in this one may not be very dynamic, but she’s beautifully detailed.
- Gotta love that costume.
- I love how they used the paint to show the sheer fabric of the back of her dress.
- And here’s a lovely view of her armpit. Heh. But it does show how nicely they depicted her musculature there.
- Of course, being an H-game, you have to expect castoffs. This one’s fairly modest, just a replaceable top piece that’s torn open to show her nipples.
- This was the one I had intended to order when I got shipped the OrchidSeed version instead – Max Factory’s Ignis. This is one of my all-time favorite figures.
- She had a pair of glasses with gold half-frames that she could wear. Sadly, these have disappeared somewhere… but she still looks lovely.
- As with the other, she looks lovely from every angle, but this pose is mich more dynamic.
- Look at the lovely streams of hair swirling around, you can almost see her dancing…
- Again you can see the effect used to depict the back of her dress.
- Realistically I don’t think the dress would hug her rear that tightly, but it looks just stunning regardless.
- Here’s a detail shot of the runes on her sword.
- Here’s another full view from the right. This figure has a problem where the pegs that hold her on her stand don’t keep her entirely stable – she starts to lean forward more and more over time.
- Here’s a nice shot of her face from the side. As for the leaning, I fixed that by making a couple little pillows of electrical tape and wedging them under her toes.
- Here’s one last close up of her face before we move on. Sorry, no cast-off on this model.
- Ignis the White, another Orchid Seed model, stands as the single most expensive figure in my collection.
- In the game, Ignis dies and is reborn in a way that is totally not ripped off from Lord of the Rings.
- The dynamically sculpted flow of her dress impresses me every time I look at her. If I ever get married again, this is what I want to wear.
- This is also the only figure that shows her elf-ears properly. Still, two things disappoint me about this one: Her skin tone looks a little yellowish, especially under flourescent light. And, they didn’t include her new sword, which, appropriate to the ‘bride’ theme, has a bouquet of roses around the hilt.
- From the back we can see the flow of her hair, and the intricate straps and buckles of her bodice.
- From the left, too. I will say one thing – with all those ripples and ruffles in white, it’s hard to keep dust off this one.
- And, yes, her original cups are fully translucent originally. I had to paint over them to make her acceptable for display here. But honestly, I think it looks better this way.
- The group of roses in back is the key that unlocks her cast-off… the dress comes apart in 4 pieces, plus her cups, revealing some lovely lingerie.
- Lovely as ever in this version too.
- The attention to detail is exquisite as ever, from the bride’s traditional blue garter to the roses on her shoes.
- And her pretty little panties…
- One last profile shot before we move on…
- Finally, we have the newest model, from Creator’s Labo. With a redesigned outfit and the most dynamic pose of all
- There’s so many angles in which this figure stands out. I do wish she was a bit bigger though..
- I love that look on her face from this angle, the way her hair obscures it just so…
- The way her body is turned in this pose, she looks more agile than ever
- I loooove those boots. And it’s really impressive how they got her to stay in this pose with no extra support.
- Here you can see the demon-tentacle thing… in reality it serves as her support. In-character, it looks like she’s dodging its attacks in the middle of an intense battle.
- Eeeeh, watch out for that big tentacle crawling up your thigh!
- One last view of her face before…
- Cast-Off Time! In fact, with this model it’s actually harder to get her clothes to stay ON than to take them off…
- You know, I’d say she looks even more tough and capable without her clothes… Ahh, Ignis… *le sigh*
- A closer view of that magnificent body for you. Damn I wish I looked that good…
- Here’s her sword and lovely ass-ets. :D
- Oh dear, that tentacle’s getting awful close…
- A final, parting shot, before we say goodby to dear Ignis. She may only be my second-favorite redhead now, but it doesn’t mean I love her any less.
Hee, exactly 42 pics! I would give a thanks to KidNemo for providing the figures, but they didn’t even give me a discount. Tightwand!
