Taimanin Asagi – The Well-Dressed Kunoichi of Today

After several months’ delay I’ve finally gotten Asagi Igawa from Taimanin Asagi. I’d never heard of that particular show before, but the clothing and pose immediately appealed to me and my love of futuristic ninja-girls and the color purple. The delays though… agh. Originally she was supposed to be released March 31, then April, then May… Finally, she arrives in mid-July, just when I’d almost forgotten about her. (Just as well, though. With all that’s gone on lately, I wouldn’t have been able to afford her if she’d come any earlier)

Asagi’s really impressive especially from a company I’d never heard of before, though. But, I’m now convinced that the scaling means nothing on these figures, or if anything it’s just a ballpark, because she’s overall smaller than Tamaki who is listed at the same scale. She doesn’t have much in the way of actual accessories, just the sword which can be held either way in her hand but looks best in ‘backward’ and two bases – the really neat ‘broken ground’ one, and a smaller plain black oval – I guess if the other is too big. The oval one was so unremarkable that I didn’t even other to photograph it. Another oddity that stood out was the way she attached to her base. Usually the base will have a set of pegs on it which will correspond to holes in the figure’s feet. Asagi was the opposite – the pegs are on her feet, and the holes are in the bases. Which doesn’t seem too horrible until you realize this means she cannot stand at all without a base. Now, myself, I always use the character’s base-plates anyway, but if for some reason you don’t like to…that’s something to keep in mind with Asagi.

Anyway, here’s the pictures:
